When we first sat down with Danny during the planning phrase, he shared with us about how he was inspired to create content that would resonate with people. The conversation felt very personal, and as it unfolded itself throughout the meeting, we couldn’t help but to imagine that we were already in his prologue.

From human emotions to chord progressions, Danny brought up many intricate details throughout our discussion that served as topic starters. We uncovered good reference material to work upon. Pixar’s Up, a journey of life. Gnossiennes, a study of dissonance, time signatures, and melancholy. Steins;Gate, a peek into arrangement.

The biggest challenge for this project was to find a balance for something beautiful yet truthful.

In doing that, we peeled away layer after layer of expectations to come up with an honest and easy-listening score. The entire soundboard was condensed into a single constraint of the piano, which we believe to be the most genuine, wide-reaching choice of instrument.

Despite being a seasoned orchestral composer and multi-instrumentalist, it was Julian’s ability to conjure up the final product within the piano so intimate that it resonated with us on the spot. Tune in to their podcast for some of the most authentic, heart-warming stories.
