Overview
We composed, scored and designed original soundtracks for this 9-episode tv series. We also licensed music rights from local musicians and from our stock music library.

Slacker delivery driver Gregory Heng (Maxi Lim) gets entangled in a dangerous web of crime and corruption.
Assisted by a mysterious hacker and his straight-arrow cop sister, he learns to navigate this dark world using nothing but his sheer luck.
Scoring a One-Take Action Sequence
“Essentially, anticipation is all about keeping a feeling going.” said our studio engineer.

And he was right. From that hallway scene in Old Boy to that extraction scene in True Detective, we rewatched some of our favourite one-take references, which gave us insights on how to utilise the in-between spaces.
A lone assassin infiltrates a triad hideout in an attempt to retrieve his client’s fenced money. After clearing out the wolves’ den, he spots a civilian making off with a bag full of cash. He sets his sight onto a new target.
We opted to go with a percussion-based track for the action sequence, relying mostly on sound effects to take the centre stage. We also explored using Asian percussion libraries with woodblocks and taiko drums to emphasise the kind of triad-based environment they are in.
The underscore also introduces a series of adrenaline-filled bass lines, with a brass and string accompaniment to really sell that oomph alongside Ronin Group’s awesome stunt choreographies.
Anthem For The Victim
We often think of collateral damage as a catchphrase for crime narratives, and while there are many brilliant ways to express this – our team wanted to come up with something a little different this time.
Putting aside the usual moody requisite, we scoured through different shows ranging across cartoons to action sci-fi to detail the style we were looking for.

Our goal was to create a score that would exist in the Dead Lucky world, touching on themes such as the good luck curse, victims of consequences, and the unfortunate demise of loved ones.
In an effort to rescue Sam, Gregory confronts his sister’s abductor in an abandoned warehouse to exchange money for life. Unbeknownst to all, they were ambushed by a third party, resulting in the death of his sister.
Not only did the end result sit perfectly in our mix, but this downtempo piece that features a strong bassline with vocal chops from Sam also paced out beautifully well with her crane shot.
