Piecing together a feel-good story
It was a cold and windy evening at the dining patio where we sat down with Odeith and the Director to prepare his upcoming interview. We had travelled to the beautiful desert-themed ANMON resort in Bintan, Indonesia.
Having worked under the scorching sun for the past couple of days, Odeith cracks open a cold one and signals over to the recording team, “Guys, I’m mother******* ready, let’s do this!” he shoots us a wide smirk from across the table.
During the interview, Odeith shared a glimpse into his childhood past, revealing his passion for drawing and tattooing before he moved on to become a part of Lisbon’s vibrant visual arts scene.
It gave us plenty of insight into the environment that he grew up in, and the nature of his humbling personality. In his many stories, we discovered a lot of inspiring material that we could weave into his narrative.
The project was a unique one right from the get-go as we had the opportunity to tag alongside the crew and witness Odeith do up his first anamorphic mural piece in Southeast Asia as of yet.
One of our composers stumbled across background music while auditioning through the b-rolls. In one of these shots something peculiar came up, “Yo, there’s like, 808s leaking through his headphones and - oh wow - it sounds tight,” and then it all clicked together. We’re going to find a way to introduce these groundbreaking beats into his story.
